Maurice Mouchan made his way through as public figure in Nice as soldier in the Second World War and deputy mayor of Nice. He was also involved in supporting the cause of the French Algeria.

In honoring his brave and militant work and activity, the city of Nice named the former Place Fontaine du Temple after Maurice Mouchan. This small garden was set up in 1970, and restored in 2008. It brightens up the surroundings of north outskirts of Nice with its ornamental water jets. A kids’ playground can also be spotted here.
