The history of the Visitation Chapel of Saint Claire overlaps, in part, the history of the neighboring Visitation Chapel subbed the Providence Chapel. Two different orders of nuns were successively sheltered by these two distinct places of worship, not to mention they were built about one century apart from each other. Thus, the Visitation Chapel of Saint Claire (which is, in fact, an architectural complex consisting of the chapel proper, a garden and a laundry) was built in the early 17th century (more precisely, in 1604). And, just like the said Providence Chapel, it is located in Vieux Nice.

At present, the Visitation Chapel of Saint Claire is no longer used as a monastic establishment, being the headquarters of an institute for the disabled.
