For two weeks, from mid February to early March, the city of Nice vibrates with open air music performances, parades, flower processions, festal spirit and cheer. This is an approximate overview of the colorful and joyful Nice Carnival, which takes hold of the city every year, standing out at the same time as a festival of special tourist interest.

Indeed, crowds of visitors gather in Nice in millions to see the giant papier mâché figures dance and parade throughout the city. The highlights of Carnaval de Nice refer to the Flower Fight (Bataille des Fleurs), which is the peak of all parades occasioned by the carnival, and to Mardi Gras, when the king of the papier mâché giants is set ablaze on the beach in an atmosphere brightened by the spectacular firework shows.

The Nice Carnival is, obviously, one of the most awaited and appealing events on the entire French Riviera. For further details on the next edition of the festival, visit Carnaval de Nice.
