Catherine Segurane is a popular heroine of Nice, retained by the local history due to her anecdotal contribution to the saving of the city from the invading Turkish armies. As amusing as this episode is (and highly unlikely to be deemed a historical fact), since the story goes the laundress repelled the army by showing her imposing behind to the disrelished soldiers, Catherine Segurane became a patron saint of the city.
A mass is, thus, held, in her memory at the Cathedral of Sainte Reparate on November the 25th.
